Polish aid for Lebanon

Lebanon, a country with a rich history and culture, has faced several challenges, including the economic crisis, political and social instability, and the effects of conflict. In this context, development aid is key in supporting Lebanon’s stability and sustainable development path.

Small investments can rapidly improve the lives of thousands of residents. For example, the Polish Center for International Aid is doing things in Akkar province, such as repairing a road after a fire, building canals to irrigate farm fields, cleaning a riverbed, and installing solar panels to provide electricity.

Development aid supports Lebanon’s quest for stability and sustainable development. Investments in education, health, infrastructure, and state institutions benefit Lebanese society and contribute to a better future for the country.

PCPM development projects

Most Lebanese living below the poverty line, growing your land allows you to provide sustenance and sell the surplus.

– The river that flooded destroyed the crops of 100 farmers”, says the head of Al-Kneisseh village.

The digging of the Al-Ostuan River improved crops and saved residents whose belongings were sometimes flooded. However, this is not the only work the PCPM has done recently. It also repaired an important road connecting Qoubayat to Hermel and built irrigation canals.

Why is development aid so important?

Economic growth and job creation: Development aid can help boost the local economy through investment in infrastructure, support for small and medium-sized businesses, and the development of sectors such as tourism and agriculture. This, in turn, leads to job creation and improved living conditions for residents.

Improved quality of life: Development assistance can help meet basic needs such as access to education, health care, clean water, and sanitation. Investment in these areas translates into an improved quality of life for Lebanese society, especially in crisis-affected regions.

Responding to crises: Lebanon is vulnerable to various crises, such as conflict, natural disasters, and epidemics. Humanitarian and development assistance is essential to provide emergency relief, rebuild the devastation, and support the population in returning to normal life.

For more than 12 years on the ground

The Polish Centre for International Aid Foundation has been helping in Lebanon since 2012. As the only Polish NGO registered in Lebanon, it has been helping victims of the war in Syria since the beginning of the crisis, as well as Lebanese families affected by the worst economic crisis in decades.

PCPM’s main focus is in the country’s north, including along the Syrian border. For years, the Foundation has been helping Syrians in Lebanon and Syria itself, and for several years it has also been helping Palestinians in the West Bank. Therefore, PCPM is looking at the situation throughout the region. With the rapidly changing situation in Syria and the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, PCPM will respond as needed and possible. For the moment, the Foundation is focusing on its work in Lebanon, where Syrian refugees are also beneficiaries.
