PCPM trains local authorities in Iraqi Kurdistan

Nowadays in Kurdistan we can observe a strong attitude of “teach a man to fish” regarding local citizens. After defeating the so-called Islamic State, it is finally possible. The situation in Northern Iraq is stabilizing. However, the process of achieving fully independence is not easy, due to the negative impact of financial crisis in 2014, provoked by low oil prices and investment outflow. PCPM actions support local governmental institutions in raising funds for the most important tasks.

Together with VNG – partner organization, PCPM conducted trainings for the local authorities in Duhok (Iraqi Kurdistan) about preparing project proposals. The training participants worked intensively for two days. The new capacity will allow them to collect funds for the implementation of urban project in the areas.

The actions taken by PCPM in Northern Iraq (including Iraqi Kurdistan) are financed within MASAR project: Maintaining Strength and Resilience for Local Governments, financed with the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian crisis.
