PCPM completes training of USAR team. It is the only such unit in Kenya
We are intensively training the Search and Rescue Team for Building Disasters (USAR). It consists of experienced firefighters from the most threatened regions in Kenya.
The current phase of training focuses on improving techniques for stabilizing damaged structures and rescue operations in difficult terrain conditions, such as excavations. The exercises are held on a specially prepared training ground, which allows for realistic representation of potential construction disaster scenarios.
This is another function of the training ground in Kiambu which Polish Center of International Aid (PCPM) built from scratch and has been developing for many years.
Towards official certification
PCPM is working towards ensuring that the Kenyan rescue team obtains official professional certification. The first stage of the qualification assessment is currently underway, which is a key step on the way to achieving international standards. Next year, Kenya will have its first and the only one in East Africa USAR team.
The Polish Centre for International Aid (PCPM) is a non-governmental organisation that has been working for years to improve security and quality of life in developing countries. PCPM specialises in rescue training, building infrastructure and supporting local communities.
