Flood Relief Efforts in Poland

Flood damage equipment, generators, and pumps are being provided to aid in the recovery from the recent floods in Lower Silesia. The PCPM Foundation has been at the forefront of these efforts, with initial deliveries already reaching the affected areas. Working closely with local fire departments, PCPM ensures that aid is distributed where needed most. A fundraising campaign supported by Wirtualna Polska is ongoing at pcpm.org.pl/flood.

– Poland is facing one of its worst natural disasters in decades. The PCPM Foundation is committed to providing immediate relief to those affected. Every donation, no matter how small, gives hope for rebuilding. We thank Wirtualna Polska for partnering with us in this important initiative. Together, we can provide the essential support needed – said Dr. Wojtek Wilk, CEO of the PCPM Foundation.

A Massive Cleanup

As the floodwaters recede, the massive cleanup effort begins. Many areas need basic tools, even shovels, and firefighters’ protective gear is wearing out quickly.

– I’ve seen a lot in my life. Still, the scale of this tragedy is almost unimaginable – said Marek Brzęczek, a paramedic with the PCPM Foundation who has been delivering supplies to firefighters in Lądek-Zdrój.

Access to many places is still difficult, making cooperation with local services crucial. In coordination with the Kłodzko district firefighters, PCPM is delivering equipment to remove the effects of the flood, including to Trzebieszowice, Jaszkowa Dolna, Ołdrzychowice Kłodzkie, and Stronie Śląskie. Pumps were delivered to OSP Starówka Wrocław, Wałbrzych, Gostków, Witków, and Sokołowo.

The PCPM Foundation manages the Polish Non-Governmental Organizations Fund (POP Fund), which supports small organizations throughout Poland. As some organizations supported by the POP Fund operate in areas affected by the floods, PCPM has also provided financial assistance to organizations in Jelenia Góra to help flood victims.

Power and Communication

A power outage is another challenge faced in on-site work. That’s why we’re sending generators, power banks, and internet-connecting equipment to various locations to ensure connectivity and better coordinate on-site assistance. Such equipment has already been delivered to Stronia Śląska, Minkowice Oławskie, and Lądek-Zdrój.

A Long Road to Recovery

Just as with any humanitarian crisis, we must recognize that the recovery process will be long. The need for support will extend far beyond the immediate aftermath of the floods.

– Right now, we’re seeing a tremendous outpouring of support, and it’s heartwarming. We’re genuinely grateful for all your help and for another demonstration of Polish solidarity. However, I want to emphasize that the impact of these floods on affected communities will be felt for months, even a year from now – said Zofia Kwolek, a board member of the PCPM Foundation – That’s why continued assistance will be crucial.

That is why the PCPM encourages to support the flood relief efforts at pcpm.org.pl/flood.
