Great news for all firefighters and specialised rescuers in Kenya.

In April 2024 the crucial institution accredditing vocational education in Kenya – TVET – approved a firefighting CBET curriculum on level 5.

From now on, all firefighters and specialised rescuers across the country will be able to undertake a professional advanced and certified course improving their skills in both responding to different types of incidents, as well as coordinating the rescue operations.

Level 5 curriculum captures advanced knowledge in the field of firefighting, search and rescue, road traffic accidents, highrise-buildings and medical rescue. It also constitues a formal foundation of the accredditation of the first national firefighting and specialised rescue cadre in Kenya. It is a milestone in guaranteeing self-sustainability and systemic multiplication of the knowledge within the local Fire and Rescue Service. The curriculum was developed and accreddited thanks to the cooperation with the Polish Aid development cooperation programme by the MFA of Poland.
