Change of the treatment method and building the COVID-19 ward. The PCPM rescuers in Uganda

The PCPM Medical Emergency Team has been supporting medical staff in the treatment of COVID- 19 patients at the Entebbe hospital in Uganda for several days. This is only part of the mission and help that the only team in Poland brings under the aegis of the World Health Organization.

How Poland Emergency Medical Team faced COVID-19

Polish Emergency Medical Team PCPM is a WHO acredited emergency medical team comprised of over one hundred doctors, nurses, and other medical experts who provide rapid deployment to medical emergencies across the world. In 2020, we had one greatest challenge in front of us, which is combating COVID-19 pandemics.

Heros on emergency COVID-19 response

The Corona-virus outbreak has been continuing to spread. By the beginning of May, the number of infected people worldwide surpassed 160 mln infections, and the death toll continues to rise. While traditional models of disease outbreaks largely focus on infection rates, the HERoS (Health Emergency Response In Interconnected Systems) project introduces new methods to integrate behaviour from the bottom up, and integrated in macro-level models to coordinate the response world-wide.

The response to COVID-19 in Tajikistan is WHO/Europe’s largest emergency operation in the European Region to date. At the Government’s invitation, a WHO mission arrived on the ground in May.

The PCPM Emergency Medical Team is starting a mission in Tajikistan

A team of 23 doctors, nurses and paramedics is working in Tajikistan. Over the next three weeks, Polish medical professionals will share their knowledge and experience in the fight against COVID-19. The mission is implemented under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO).

PCPM provides specific help in Poland

We share our knowledge and equipment. We support those who have been fighting for our health and life in Poland for weeks. The medical staff can participate in our psychological and diabetes consultations. We don’t ignore people who found themselves in the most difficult situation during pandemic. So, our next action is – masks! We inform, sew, distribute! Our support is directed to home hospices and homeless people who will ask for it.

Poland EMT PCPM donate coronavirus and COVID-19 pandemic equipment to hospitals

Poland EMT PCPM donated medical tents to Polish hospitals. The tents are designed for international medical missions. Now we use them to build field hospitals in order to verify patients before they enter the actual hospital or emergency department. Thanks to it, we will be able to decrease the risk of spreading the virus in the facilities, that are particularly exposed to it. At the same time, we will minimize the risk of closing those medical units. We also share medical equipment, disinfectants, disposable clothing and gloves.
